Point Click Kill is a four-piece band from Iloilo City. Their musical influences, like other bands, root from various genre. These mainly include reggae, ska, rapcore, industrial, Latin music, etc. Because of the dominance of reggae reverberating from most of their head pounding songs, their music, as some of them put it, is ragacore and some argue and call it fancy-core; attributable to the fancy arrangements of some songs…well…not that fancy. Combining rock, reggae, jazz and other genres (which PCK is not claiming to be the original in doing so) along with angry and angst driven lyrics on the unsaid and agitating issues, Point Click Kill delivers rock & roll with a fist for the man, as Jack Black (School of Rock) would probably put it.
The band formed after Dem Catacutan and Duhwain Catacutan (brothers) landed in Iloilo after some serious bumming in Dumaguete. They collaborated with Darwin Ardales before actually absorbing him into the group as their lead guitarist. It was at this point that Dem (who was the lead guitarist at the time) took the duties as the bassist of the band. In 2002, the band composed a couple of songs and joined a competition although they were still nameless at this point. Their first drummer quit the band a few months after. Their only other choice was to pull in the youngest of the Catacutan clan, Nino, who at first was hesitant but willing.
Edwin Jason “Duhwain” Catacutan sadly passed away at June 13, 2010. His legacy and contribution to Ilonggo music scene will not be forgotten.
