Oton Saga Mural – Oton Iloilo
Otan Saga is a mural relief sculpture that depicts the historical events of the town, from the arrival of the datus to World War II. The mural was sculpted by a distinguished Ilonggo National artist Timoteo J. Jumayo. The mural is located right after the oval shaped basketball court of Oton Plaza.
First thing you’ll notice is that of a mysterious figure whose face was chiseled off. I was told that that it was a bust of Ferdinand Marcos. Some individual or a group of people must have been furious enough to deface it. Nonetheless, we’ll consider the defacement as part of people’s revolt against Martial Law regime.
