Mount Kanlaon National Park
Mount Kanlaon is blanketed with dense forest, the mountain is considered as inactive volcano. The park is at least 25,000 hectares and the lush forest is home to diverse wildlife including bleeding-heart pigeon, the rare Philippine spotted deer and species of orchid.
Hiking to Mount Kanlaon
Anyone is free to explore the foothills of the mountain, however special permits are needed to climb up to the mountain. Permits must be obtained from the Office of the Park Superintendent. Take note that only limited spots are available for hikers. The climbing season for Mount Kaonlaon is on March to May and October till December.
The three entrance to the summit are Murcia, Guintubdan and Canlaon. The Murcia entrance have more scenic spots. Hikers are required to have a guide when hiking all the way to the summit which takes one day to reach and another day to go back. All in all the whole trip takes two days total. The park has abundant resorts and inns you can stay in.
