Miag-ao Salakayan Festival 2009
The Municipality of Miag-ao celebrates the town’s 293rd Founding Anniversary and the Salakayan Festival. It will be a week-long festivity at the Miag-ao plaza from Februay 8-14 2009. There will be Food festival, sport competitions and other social events. Five participating tribes will battle out for the Salakayan Festival grand prize. The Five tribes are Tribu Kabugwason, Bantalan, Tabun-ak, Salagyawan and Kiraynon. The Salakayan Competition is the creative dance intepretation of the founding of Miagao town and the Barangay Tacas as it’s center. The building of the Miagao Church is the the major part of the presentation.
The festival highlight are on the last 3 days of the celebration. The Thanksgiving mass, Grand Parade and barangay night are held on February 13, 2009. Tribal competition, Merry Making and Tribe’s night on February 14. The last day of the event February 15, the Higantes will present a threatrical play “Princepeng Duwag” and the coronation of Mary May Nicolasora as Queen of Miagao 2009.
