Masskara Festival showcases kaleidoscope of colorful masks and costumes. For photographers, the event is a visual feast to the eyes as well to the lens.

Tips for photographers for Masskara Festival

  1. Pack your photo gears lightly, it’s best to have assistant nearby to help carry your load.
  2. Bring umbrella, you can never tell when it’s going to rain. I end up leaving the festival early because of the rain.
  3. Bring a mat to sit on. There are times when you’re required to sit on the ground to give way to people behind you. Since sitting is not an option for me, I had to endure standing for hours.
  4. The best time place photograph the competiting group is at the assembly area. Be there 1 hour before the street dance. Once the group starts with the streetdance, they move really fast!

Masskara 2010 Video Montage

I feel so deprived when I wasn’t able to get much video since the police at the entrance refused to let me in for the Masskara Dance Competition despite having a Photographer’s ID. By the time they let me in, most of the groups finished performing already.
