Luces in the Sky Competition 2010 in Iloilo
Twenty “shooters” are joining the two-day “Luces in the Sky” fireworks contest on January 22 to 23 as part of the Dinagyang Festival.
The Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. 7(DFI) would have invited international shooters, too, join the competition but financial constraints forced it to abandon the idea. “Maybe next year we can already afford to invite them,” said Ben Jimena of the Iloilo City Tourism and Development Office.
Ten shooters will showcase their fireworks on January 22. The rest will do so on the 23rd. The launching area of the fireworks is the SM City-Iloilo car park near the old Iloilo Airport.This year, the first prize winner will get P80,000; 2nd Prize, P50,000; and 3rd Prize, 30,000. The rest will receive a subsidy of P18,000 each.

To get good view of the fireworks, park your car near the old Iloilo airport. You can avoid the traffic in diversion road on peak hours. If you have intention to party in Smallville, park your car there early. The traffic congestion can take for hours in diversion road, make sure you’re not in a hurry to go elsewhere.
