The Baroque Chapel rests in the heart of the cemetery where most funeral rites are held. The exteriors are embossed with gothic carvings. The path towards the Chapel are lined up with trees.

Location: The cemetery is located along the old iloilo-capiz road on the outskirts of the town.

Cabatuan Cemetery History

The Romanesque cemetery was built by Fr. Juan Porras. The Baroque chapel was built with gothic interiors and carvings. However, during World War II, the chapel’s dome was destroyed. It was later replaced a flat cement roof with a cross.

Cemetery Insights
It was a scorching hot afternoon when I decided to roam around the Cabatuan cemetery grounds. I don’t normally visit cemeteries but the Grand Baroque Chapel was beckoning me to take a peek. I went inside the chapel and found a crucifix hanging above the altar.

The cemetery area was spacious and organized. You can tell that the niches were well taken care of. There’s bench on the side of some tombs. I can picture out that on All Saints day their loved ones are camping out here. Be rest assured that there’s no scary stuff lurking about.
