Carlos Iloilo Bakery and Cafe

Carlos Bakery at the Benigno Aquino Avenue Iloilo finally transformed into swanky Bakery and Cafe. The bakery’s transformation credit goes to the Trenas Siblings, Raisa Sarabia Trenas and Carlo Sarabia Trenas. Raisa got her Pastry Chef training at International School For Culinary Arts and Hotel Management and also a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Management. Carlo is a graduate of College of Benilde and Bachelor of Science in Hotel Restaurant and Institution Management in Manila.
Despite the place’s posh interior, the bakery still retained their wide variety affordable bread and pastries. The classic breads such as teren-teren, mongo bread, lubid-lubid, biscotcho, ugoy-ugoy, pacencia bread and etc. My newly found favorite pastry would be chocolate beehive topped with whipped cream.

The cafe and resto caters more to folks that crave fine dining experience. There’s variety of Italian pastas, sandwiches, barbeque, desserts, coffees and appetizers. Patrons still have the option to have light and heavy meal or just chill out with a cup of coffee since the cafe is wifi ready.
We ordered Peached glaced barbeque and mango shake. After a bit of a wait the food was finally served. The green leafy salad complements with the well marinated barbeque. I’m not really much of a veggie person but crisp vegetable salad really tasted great. The mango shake tasted better with slivers of strawberry syrup.

The food at Carlo’s is really great! But me & my friends were really irritated by the unfriendly service of their cashier who I think was named Cathy. She was rude & arrogant. We went their to buy bread worth around 100+ pesos & handed her 1K. She asked for a smaller bill but we said that we had none. Nag-dabog ang lola & she standed waiting for us to come up w/ a change w/c unfortunately we really don’t have. She had that really bad look on her face. Parang hindi xa tinuruan ng proper customer service. Hindi naman cguro kasalanan ng customer kung walang dalang barya ano??!! Sayang pa naman the place is nice & we like the food. But w/ the kind of employee that they have, nakaka-turn off nang bumalik doon. We had this same bad experience w/ this cashier thrice na. Naloloka, nagdadabog at nag-aalburoto xa pag wala kang dalang barya! Hope this goes up to the owners/managers of the restaurant.

Our experience with Carlo’s was ok. I guess we got lucky that we didn’t encounter a cashier that’s rude. I do hope that the management will read your comment here.
