Dinagyang Opening Salvo treated everyone with a sneak preview of the performing Tribe’s performance. Portions of the city roads were closed for the parade.

It was fortuitous when I got off the jeepney, the opening salvo already started. I have completely forgotten about the event and was actually on my way to do some errands. I was able to catch the glimpse of Tribu Pana-ay, Tribu Silak, Tribu Bola-bola and Tribu Atub-Atub at Quezon Street. The clown ensemble costume of Tribu Bola-bola was really impressive. I’m pretty sure that Tribu Bola-bola will be back with a vengeance. I was running around the city proper hoping to catch up with other performing tribes. Sadly, I missed out on last year’s Dinagyang champion, the Tribu Paghidaet as well as other tribes. Despite the bad weather and occasional drizzle, the event turned out to be ok. I’m hoping that it won’t rain on the Dinagyang competition.
