Iloilo Paraw Regatta 2011 Winners

This year, the waters of villa beach is once again decorated with colorful sailboats. The 39th paraw regatta sailboat competition is hailed as largest sailing event in the Philippines. The event runs from February 13-20 2011 with various sports events and merrymaking activities. The last day of the event finishes off with sailboat race and final Sinamba sa Regatta Dance off.

The event was graced with the presence of congressman Jerry Trenas, Mayor Jed Mabilog, Councilor Lex Tupas and Norwegian Shipowners Association represented by Mr. Stein Eriksen.

61 sailboats joined the race – 38 sailboats in Category A and 23 in Category B. The In Category A Paraws sails are measured as 25 feet long and below while in Category B paraws are over 25 feet long.

  • 2nd place – Arlyn, owned by Orlando Demetillo of Brgy. Camangay, Leganes, Iloilo
  • 3rd place -Joseph 1 owned by Rogelio Gareza of Guimbal, Iloilo
  • 4th place – Piranha 3 owned by Victor Gordoncillo of Brgy. Camangay, Leganes
  • 5th place -John John owned by Oscar Espinosa of Brgy. Sto. Niño Sur, Arevalo, Iloilo City
  • 6th place -Ninia & Isaiah owned by Hector Espinosa of Brgy. Sto. Niño Sur, Arevalo, Iloilo City
