Iloilo Gaisano City at Lapaz
The Gaisano City at Lapaz Iloilo used to be the biggest and most popular mall in the city. On it’s heyday in the 1990′s, there’s Bowling Alleys at the 6th level of the mall. Cinema was state of the art back then. Foodcourt stalls were filled with wide food selections. Diplomat bookstore sold variety of rare books, comics and school supplies. It’s a mecca for students that skips class to play their favorite arcade game. In fact, a city ordinance that prohibits high school students from going inside the mall during school hours. Being a high school student that time, I had to bring extra clothing to bypass such restriction.
Every Sunday afternoon back then, you can spot groups of Ilonggo Magic cards enthusiast having their own tournament. Odyssey record store is a must for Grunge and Alternative music stereophiles. I remember drooling over polaroid cameras sold at the Agfa Photo studio. The Agfa studio has since closed down and their Polaroid camera still displayed with a hefty price tag of 10,000 pesos.

Sad to say that the mall is somewhat a shell of it’s former self. A lot of tenants migrated to the other malls. Only few tenants remained since the Gaisano’s opening, such as the J & R Photostudio that still displayed nuptial coverage of Edith and Nino Muhlach. Fast food chains like Jollibee, Greenwich and Chowking are still there. Deco’s Batchoy now occupies the place where KFC once stood. For Toy collectors, the toy section in the mall got stocks of hard to find collectible toys you don’t normally find at Robinson’s Iloilo and SM City Iloilo.
I rarely dropped by Gaisano city nowadays except for occasions where I’m in the mood to re-live bittersweet High School memories.

Nga-a wla na garestock sang heno de pravia soap ang gaisano city? I’ve waited for months nga mag restock sila pero wla. Please restock.

to the management of gaisano city…gusto ko lng ipaabot sa naga organized sang inyo search for little campus model na c marivic kg sir den na ndi nami inyo event kag ang inyo patakaran kmo ya mismo na mga staff may mga candidata maski ano gli knami sng iban na mga candidate useless ang result ky ihaw ang resulta…even the judges ndi ka balo mag judge…very cheap wala kmo ka 1/4 sng patakaran sng sm na ga kha cla judges na mga fashion dsigner kag once na empleyado ka sng sm bawal cla mag intra sa kng ano na competition gusto ko lng ipabalo sa tanan kg gusto mag intra ma advice ko lng ndi na kmo mag uyang ka oras kg kwarta nyo ky ang pirmi lng da ga intra ang gadaug ky muna lang nkilala ka judges tama gid ka klaro nga ihaw ang hampang?…………………………….

wow! may ara nga nagabaligya sang pirated (movie and game cd’s) sa gaisano city! ok man lang tani kay makabarato ka 2ngod 100-150. ang bili. pero kung may problema ang ginbakal muh ndi na gali maislan sang iban nga klase maliban kung dala mo ang resibo kag amo man sa guihapon nga klase ang ipabaylo muh,.?may deretso sila diba?… ang kaladlawan lang. cd lang kag cover ang naglain, ang file nga gnburn sa cd nga gnbaylo cmu parehu lang guihapon sa gin uli muh. kinanglan mo pa magasto sang pamasahe para mabal an mo nga may samad guihapon ang ginbayaran muh. gudluck nalang sa atun! gusto taman pirata muh hahahaha.

can i ask? dyan ba sa inyong mall ang audition nang pbb teens? kasi ang audition ng pbb unli sa gaisano ct ng bacolod, maari bang malaman kung kailan thank you.
