Iloilo Chinese New Year Parade 2011

Iloilo celebrates Chinese New year with parade on February 4, 2011. The parade was led by Congressman Jerry Trenas, Mayor Jed Mabilog, Councilor Lex Tupas and other VIPS. Various chinese communities and schools also took part in the parade. I was looking forward to this year’s Chinese new year celebration. I was expecting that it would be bigger and grander. What happened with this year’s celebration?
It seems that this year’s celebration seems to be lackluster. Last year was really grand with colorful showcases of chinese costumes and such. But now the lions were barely dancing. There’s not enough participation from other chinese schools. I don’t see the chinese zodiac animals on parade, except of the rabbit. I hope that next year they’ll make it more grander and bigger.
