Bacolod City

Bacolod City is the capital of Negros Occidental, which is also dubbed as the “City of Smiles”. The city got its name from the hiligaynon word “bakolod” which translates as stone hill since it was previously a stony and hilly area. The annual “Masskara Festival” or “Mask Festival” is the city’s popular tourism event. The festival is held every third week of October. Major malls such as SM Bacolod and Robinsons Bacolod caters to shopaholics looking for bargain buys.
