American Adventure Buffet – The Promenade Days Hotel Iloilo

The Promenade brings you a taste of America with their American Adventure buffet every friday 6pm -10pm at 460 pesos. One may notice that the waiters and waitresses dons cowboy costume w/ cowboy hat.
Aside from their main buffet station, there’s a mouth watering dessert station with wide variety of desserts to choose from. I must say that the promenade certainly take pride with their desserts. Usually in buffet of other restaurants I’ve tried, the desserts were rather limited and less spectacular.
My personal rule in choosing food for buffet is that I always skip the fish part save for sashimi. Needless to say, I piled on beef, pork and chicken dishes I can find. If only my stomach can accomodate every dish, damn I’m such a pig.

Anyway, my personal favorite was “Cowboy Steak and Chimchuri sauce”, I can’t get enough of it. I like how the garlic and herb sauce enhances the flavor of the beef.

My next favorite dish would be the “Grilled Pork chop w/ apple cinammon sauce”. The pork was marinated so well and make great combo with apple cinnamon sauce. The taste of apple’s tanginess and cinammon gives the meat a whole new taste.

Pan seared chicken breast w/ barbecue sauce has this sweet and tangy taste.

I truly enjoyed munching on the chicken wings wrapped in bacon. I mean come on, it’s bacon. Everybody loves bacon.

To be honest, I never liked pumpkin and it’s other variant called “Kalabasa” but this pumpkin chips was quite tasty. If anyone would try to force feed me pumpkin, I’ll demand to have it fried into chips.

I prefer Sweet and sour sausage kebab whole, except the sticks of course. As you munch on sausage, onion and pineapple, you’ll be treated with sweet, spicy and sour taste in your mouth.

Let’s get on with the desserts. With so many desserts to choose from, it’s impossible to eat them all. Good thing that the desserts comes in small servings so you won’t have to be stuck with a dessert you can’t finish off.

Watermelon Jelly has watermeleon fruit fused with jelly. It’s mild sweet taste is perfect buffer before diving in to another round of sugary treats.

Caramel panacotta is smooth and creamy with caramel on top.

Tocino Cielo is custard based dessert and is quite similar leche flan.

Mango cream brulee is creamy with mango fruit bits. Then I remembered Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz face off on who’s the creme brulee on “My bestfriend’s wedding” movie.

Strawberry Cheesecake has this delicious cream cheese mixed with real strawberry bits. Feels like eating a strawberry ice cream.

Snickers Brownies has almond bits and caramel which is likened to snickers chocolate.

Smore’s brownies is a spin off to hershey bar smore’s with marshmallow bits, nuts and peanut butter.

The Promenade is always excellent. Such pleasant surroundings and quality and array of dishes with excellent service. And now something new to try — the Cowboy Steak. I’ll wear my big, black cowboy hat but, as they say in Texas, big hat, no cattle!
